“Here we go again”

Films: Body Snatchers (1993)

Alias: Various

Type: Alien

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: How many times are we going to have to go through this?! This is the third time we've had to put up with these vexing vegetables. And they're not even trying to hide their inspiration from the 1978 film. Jeez.

History: Okay, you probably know what goes down at this point. There are pods, they take people in their sleep, and they replace them with emotionless duplicates. That scream.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: A large truckload of pods is destroyed, but it is left ambiguous as to whether that slowed down the invasion in any meaningful way.

Powers/Abilities: Copying another's body by ensnaring their roots around them. Okay, that's new.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Okay, we'll admit that pod people are never not scary. And putting their actions next to military places just makes them even more dangerous. But it's really saying something when your film ends with a pod child getting thrown off a helicopter while pointing and screaming all the way. That doesn't inspire fright. Only laughter.

Trivia: -This was the first sci-fi film done by director Abel Ferrara, who's career consists of more noir stories.

-This film was the first shot with Arriscope anamorphic lenses.

Believe me, the remakes won't stop here.
Light as a feather, devastating as a bomb.
We get it. You don't understand how ears work. STOP IT.
